The Ranger unit of the Jewish National Fund, which is based on volunteers only, operates in and around the Ben Shemen Forest area, for several years now.  The rangers ride their horses along the JNF trails in order to help preserve nature and give guidance to travelers.
This unit is well known for its diverse nature as its people come from different places and backgrounds.
In this project I document the brave connection that exists between the riders and their horses. This is a nature reserve of special people who see their wages as a contribution to the community and to the preservation of nature.
The body of work for this project is one which has emerged from an in-depth look and study of photographs from the JNF archives. These photographs tell the stories of the pioneers establishing the forests and preserving them afterwards.
Today's volunteers continue in the path of these mythological guards. It was a great privilege for me to get to know such wonderful people, to accompany them in their work and to document their contribution.
